Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes SEBI Over Adani Probe, Congress Demands JPC Investigation

Guwahati, 22nd August: In a nationwide protest led by the Congress party, Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi raised serious concerns about the diminishing public trust in the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Gogoi, in his sharp critique, highlighted SEBI’s perceived lax approach in its investigation into the Adani Group following the controversial Hindenburg report.

“The confidence people once had in SEBI has eroded,” Gogoi asserted, pointing to instances where the regulatory body appeared reluctant to thoroughly investigate the Adani matter. He suggested that the revelations from the Hindenburg report have unveiled deeper issues behind SEBI’s perceived inaction.

Gogoi also expressed his disappointment that the Union Finance Minister had not sought an explanation from the SEBI chairman. He accused the government of attempting to shield Adani through SEBI’s leniency.

In response to these concerns, the Congress party organized protests across the country, demanding the resignation of the SEBI chairman, a clear statement from the Finance Minister, and the establishment of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the issue.
