Gaurav Gogoi greenlights Congress poll manifesto panel for Assam

GUWAHATI: In a significant move ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, Gaurav Gogoi, has given his nod to the formation of the party’s Assembly Elections Manifesto Committee. This high-powered committee has been constituted with immediate effect, signalling the party’s proactive approach to shaping its electoral narrative.

The newly formed panel will be steered by convenor Balin Kuli, a seasoned political figure within the party ranks. The committee’s composition is a blend of state and central leadership, with two co-opted resource members from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) bringing their expertise to the table. Aakash Satyajit from the AICC’s Research Department and Rahul Bal from the Data Analytics wing have been roped in to lend a strategic and data-driven perspective to the manifesto’s drafting process.

Further bolstering the committee’s intellectual heft, Shri Santanu Chakraborty has also been named as a co-opted member from the AICC. The committee is a formidable team of 30 members, comprising a cross-section of senior party leaders and dedicated functionaries from across the state. The long list of members includes notable names such as Madhab Rajbongshi, Prithvi Naphij, Abdul Khaleque, Atuwa Munda, Arun Dutta Mazumdar, Ranjan Patba, and Ramesh Ch. Bordoloi. The committee also features leaders like Krishna Das, Suhashree Bhattacharjee, Krishna Sarma, Zamser Ali, Diganta Rongpi, and Dhaniram Thoasen, among others. The inclusion of a diverse group of leaders like Mausam Barua, Sumitra Saikia, Nitan Choudhury, Deben Damany, Avinash Gogoi, Mohan Basumatary, Motur Rahman, and Syed Abdur Rahman underscores the party’s intent to represent a wide range of voices and concerns. The committee is further enriched by the presence of Monisha Barua, Sumonay Purokayastha, Dilip Saikia, Arindam Kakoti, Geetali Das, Debnath Nath, Pallab Jyoti Nath and Rupom Bora.

The formal order for the committee’s constitution was issued by APCC general secretary (organisation), Bipul Gogoi. The formation of this committee marks a crucial step in the Congress party’s preparation for the electoral battle, as the manifesto is expected to be the cornerstone of their campaign, outlining their vision and promises for the people of Assam.
