Gaurav Gogoi: Party Can’t Play Victim after Mocking Nehru to Manmohan Singh

Guwahati, 20th December: In a pointed critique of the purported ruling party’s behavior, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has highlighted the irony in their position, considering their track record of ridiculing past Prime Ministers, from Jawaharlal Nehru to Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Without explicitly naming the party, Gogoi took a sharp jab and posted on its official X handle, stating, “The party that has mocked every Prime Minister from Pandit Nehru to Dr. Manmohan Singh. The party whose leaders have used abusive language against women and whose MPs abuse women and minorities. The party that has abused constitutional positions. They can’t play the victim card.”

Gogoi’s social media commentary sparked speculation, suggesting that he was alluding to the saffron party and indirectly accusing the BJP of employing victimhood tactics.

These remarks by Gogoi arise against the backdrop of a political scenario where the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc orchestrated a protest outside the parliament premises following the suspension of a majority of opposition MPs by the Rajya Sabha Chairman. The event unfolded as the opposition raised concerns about the Union Home Minister’s failure to address issues in Manipur and his lack of accountability for the shortcomings of the ‘double-engine government’ in the state.
