Gautam Gambhir quits BJP ahead of party’s candidate list announcement for LS Polls 2024: ‘Thank you PM Modi…’
Sports Desk, 2nd March: In a surprising turn of events, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Gautam Gambhir has declared his intention to retire from active politics. The former cricketer, who represented East Delhi, took to Twitter to share the news with his followers and supporters.
Gambhir expressed his desire to refocus on his cricket commitments, highlighting the need to prioritize the sport he passionately pursued before entering politics. He conveyed his request to Hon’ble Party President JP Nadda ji to relieve him of his political responsibilities. Gambhir also expressed gratitude to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi for the opportunity to serve the people. “Jai Hind,” he concluded.
Since joining the BJP in March 2019, Gambhir has emerged as a prominent figure within the party in Delhi. He campaigned vigorously and secured victory in the East Delhi seat during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, with an impressive margin of 6,95,109 votes.
The decision to step away from politics comes amid speculation that Gambhir may not receive a ticket for the upcoming 2024 elections.
