Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) continued its eviction drive on Tuesday in Arya Nagar and Rukminigaon, aiming to free up the walkways from illegal establishments.
GMC evicted a number of sidewalk-occupying businesses.
According to the reports, they also removed the unlawfully erected businesses from beneath the recently inaugurated flyover in Arya Nagar.
A sizable team from the municipal corporation carried out the eviction in the two different places.
It should be noted that GMC has been conducting eviction drives in various parts of the city for a number of months.
The Ganeshguri Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducted an eviction last month and removed several unlawful footpath merchants.
The GMC had earlier advised against setting up such kiosks in the future, arguing that it is unlawful to set up stores on pathways.
They further added that the burden of GMC will fall on violators.
