GMC Conducts Drive Against Sale of Tobacco Products in Guwahati
Guwahati: The District Tobacco Control Cell in Kamrup (Metro), the Assam Police in Dispur, and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) collaborated on a campaign to stop the sale of tobacco products near a number of educational institutions.
The drive was conducted against selling of tobacco products around the following Educational Institutions:
1. Gopal Bodo High School
2. Dispur College, Ganeshguri.
3. Hengrabari L.P. School
4. Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara
5. Srimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur
All tobacco goods were seized during the drive from stores that were within 100 yards of the aforementioned educational institutions.
Additionally, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s Health Branch carried out another inspection campaign at Chandmari Commerce Point in Guwahati, inspecting about 15 (fifteen) shops/business establishments, of which 8 (eight) were discovered to be operating in violation of GMC laws and regulations. 5. Café D Lili
