GMC : Eviction drive against banners of Falcom 2021

Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s (GMC) Enforcement branch conducted an eviction drive of illegal banners at the newly inaugurated flyover at Supermarket, Dispur on Thursday.

The eviction was taken out in response to a recent public property defacement notification violation. The ban is for the Falcom Festival 2021, which will be held at Umrangso, Dima Hasao, and organised by the Falcom Festival Celebration Committee, Haflong.

According to the GMC, such defacing of public property is against the notification, and the concerned committee must explain to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation within three days as to why such defacing of public property occurred despite numerous notifications.

Earlier GMC has also given WhatsApp numbers for the people to post pictures of people spitting or littering the city spaces.

The move was taken after the incident of spitting gutkha on the walls of the news constructed Supermarket Flyover came to light.

It may be mentioned that an award amount of Rs. 1000 was also announced by the state government who sends the pictures of people spitting on walls.
