Goa Defeats Sikkim by an Innings in Ranji Trophy Clash, Siddharth Shines as Player of the Match

Gangtok: Goa secured a decisive victory over Sikkim, winning by an innings and 53 runs on the third day of their Ranji Trophy match held at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Mining, on October 20.

The win marked Goa’s continued dominance as they bounced back in their quest to return to the Elite division.

Sikkim’s batting lineup struggled, but a resilient ninth-wicket partnership between Ankur Malik (57 not out) and Lee Yong Lepcha (16) offered some resistance.

The pair managed to add 56 runs, the highest partnership for Sikkim in the match, before a spectacular return catch by Mohit Redkar ended the innings at 206. Sikkim’s effort fell short despite a stronger second innings, as Bhim Luitel was unable to bat due to injury.

Goa’s earlier innings were powered by outstanding performances, with PV Siddharth’s unbeaten 130 leading the way.

Manthan Khutkar also contributed a century, establishing a solid foundation for Goa. Arjun Tendulkar and captain Darshan Misal each claimed four-wicket hauls, ensuring their side’s dominance with both bat and ball.

For his match-winning century, Siddharth was awarded the Player of the Match title. Goa’s innings win also earned them a bonus point, while Sikkim suffered their first loss of the season.

Looking ahead, Sikkim will aim to regroup as they face Arunachal Pradesh in their next match, set to take place in Gujarat.
