Gold Biscuits Seized in Mizoram: Two Apprehended
Northeast Desk, 10th August: In a significant operation, Mizoram Police, in collaboration with the District Special Branch (DSB), apprehended two individuals, including a woman, from a hotel in Lunglei. The joint operation yielded the seizure of three gold biscuits, with a total weight of 1 kg, 121.9 grams, and 118.91 grams.
Following actionable intelligence, the police and DSB executed the operation in Lunglei, resulting in the apprehension of the two suspects, who hail from Thenzawl. The seized gold biscuits hold an estimated value of Rs. 50 lakhs.
Lalduhthlani (36) and Lalramnunpuii (40) have been named as the people who have been taken into custody. After the operation, the seized items and the suspects were handed over to the Customs Department in Lunglei for further legal proceedings.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities related to precious metals. The incident underscores the importance of intelligence-driven operations in curbing such illicit trade and upholding the rule of law.
