Goods train collided in West Bengal, rail operation halted

National Desk, 25 June: Two goods trains collided on Sunday morning in West Bengal, just a few weeks after the tragic train accident in Odisha.

According to reports, several waggons of the two goods trains derailed as a result of the event which occurred at Bankura’s Onda Railway Station.

Safety Officer Dibakar Majhi at Onda Station said, “According to preliminary information, one of the goods trains was standing when it got hit by the other goods train.”

The incident resulted in the suspension of train service on the Kharagpur-Bankura-Adra route.

More details awaited.

The accident came just months after the horrific triple train collision involving the Coromandel Express and two other trains in Odisha’s Balasore that claimed at least 275 lives and injured 1,000.
