Government Accelerates Road Restoration in North Sikkim, BRO Faces Cyclone-Related Delays

Sikkim: The Government of India is making significant efforts to accelerate the repair and restoration of key road infrastructure in North Sikkim, particularly National Highway (NH) 310A and other roads connecting the Indo-China border.

Led by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), the restoration efforts are experiencing delays due to heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Remal.

Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, addressed these challenges in a letter to Dr. Indra Hang Subba, Member of Parliament from Sikkim, outlining ongoing efforts.

Following a high-level meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary on August 5, 2024, an action plan was established to expedite road restoration. While several stretches have been restored, work on others remains in progress.

NH 310A and NH 310AG have been handed over to the Ministry of Defence to ensure faster restoration, with the government of Sikkim urged to expedite land acquisition and forest clearance processes to prevent further delays.
