Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Supports Drug Rehabilitation Efforts
Itanagar– Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) presented a Rs 5 lakh cheque to Mother’s Home rehabilitation centre today, reinforcing the state’s commitment to combatting drug addiction.
The grant, which was previously announced during the Governor’s visit, was received by Mother’s Vision Chairperson Jumde Yomgam Gamlin and Secretary Kirbom Padu.
During the presentation, Governor Parnaik praised Mother’s Vision for its dedication to addressing drug addiction through education, rehabilitation, and advocacy.
He emphasized the organization’s crucial role in transforming lives and instilling hope in individuals affected by addiction.
Highlighting the complexity of the drug addiction issue, Parnaik called for a collaborative approach involving individuals, families, governments, and NGOs.
He pointed out that early prevention, comprehensive treatment, and ongoing support are essential in breaking the cycle of addiction.
The Governor urged community organizations and the Arunachali society to unite in creating a drug-free environment.
He acknowledged the initiatives of various local groups, including the ‘Care Me Home’ Welfare Society and Muklom Youth Association, in this critical fight.
Advocating for heightened awareness, particularly among youth, Parnaik stressed the importance of educating children and teens about the health risks, legal consequences, and social impacts associated with drug use.
Health Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain, who attended the event, suggested employing rehabilitated individuals within their local communities as a means to support their reintegration into society, promoting a more inclusive approach to recovery.
