Guwahati: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption detained one Lat Mondal Debananda Bora while taking bribe money at the Hojai Revenue Circle office on Friday.
The Directorate received a complaint alleging that Debananda Bora, Lat Mandal of Hojai Revenue Circle, sought money from the complainant as a bribe in exchange for processing the complainant’s selling authorization.
The complainant wanted to sell a piece of land in Hojai Town, so he requested for a sale permit at the Circle Officer’s office in Hojai. Debananda Bora, the Lat Mandal of the Hojai Revenue Circle, had sought money as a bribe in exchange for processing the complainant’s selling authorization.
The complainant sought this Directorate because he was unwilling to pay the bribe and wanted to take legal action against the public servant.
The tainted bribe money was recovered today afternoon from the possession of Sri Debananda Bora in the presence of independent witnesses.
A case has been registered in ACB PS on 17/12/2021 vide ACB PS Case No. 16/2021 U/S 7(a)/13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against Sri Debananda Bora, Lat Mandal of Hojai Revenue Circle, in this regard.
