GP Singh Exonerated In Murder of Sam Stafford
Guwahati: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) (Law & Order), GP Singh was exonerated in the murder of Sam Stafford.
Sam Stafford was a 16-year-old student from Hatigaon in Guwahati who died in Assam’s anti-CAA demonstrations in 2019.
Sam was shot and instantly died when the police opened fire from point blank indiscriminately to scatter the protesters.
Police investigations turned up no proof that GP Singh was involved in Sam’s death.
The police claimed in the report they provided following the conclusion of their investigations that Sam was shot on his body but the shooter was not identified.
However, the Kamrup District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has been ordered by the court to pay the deceased’s family compensation.
