Guardian Minister Parimal Suklabaidya Reviews Flood Situation in Cachar, Karimganj
Guwahati: Minister for Transport, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya met with the Cachar and Karimganj district administrations on Tuesday to discuss the flood situation.
Suklabaidya directed that relief and rescue operations be given top priority, and that there should be no delay in reaching out to those affected by the deluge, during a flood review meeting with the deputy commissioner, local MLA, senior officials of the administration and concerned departments at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in Silchar.
Suklabaidya ordered the authorities to keep an adequate number of country boats on standby to transport stranded individuals to safer locations. “At this hour, our main objectives are rescuing marooned persons and giving relief goods to those who have been affected,” he said.
Following the Central Government’s pledge of quick deployment of units from Bhubaneswar and Guwahati to flood-affected Cachar district, the Minister asked Cachar deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli to draw up a blueprint for strategic deployment of NDRF soldiers in flood-affected regions.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister, has been closely monitoring the flood situation and in frequent contact with the Central Government to cope with the crisis, according to Suklabaidya.
Suklabaidya, who is also the guardian minister of Karimganj district, then visited flood-affected districts in Badarpur and Katigorah revenue circles, where he met with Karimganj deputy commissioner Mridul Kumar Yadav and revenue circle personnel to discuss the situation. He also looked over the administration’s relief efforts at the Abu Muhammad Abdun Nur Memorial Hall relief camp, where he inquired about the detainees’ well-being and requirements.
On Monday, the Chief Minister asked the guardian ministers and secretaries to camp at the district headquarters to oversee flood relief efforts during a virtual meeting with his ministers, senior state government officials, and deputy commissioners.
