Guidelines to 7 Accident-Prone Districts of Assam by DGP GP Singh

Guwahati, 30 May: The tragic incident in which seven students of AEC lost their lives on May 28 has shaken the people of the state as well as the state administration. The incident has put the Assam Police, traffic control wing and transport department in deep trouble as road accidents are rising frequently in the state. Seven districts of the state have been identified as accident prone districts based on data on which areas have witnessed an increase in road accidents and some strict instructions have been issued to these seven districts by DGP.

Assam DGP GP Singh has issued strict instructions to seven accident prone districts of the state. DGP has prepared an action plan to prevent accidents. The order has been issued to Kamrup (R), Kamrup City, Nagaon, Barpeta, Sonitpur, Nalbari and Dhemaji districts.

Reports have already been sought from superintendents of police of these seven districts regarding the location, time and cause of accidents. Data on accidents in the districts have been collected and based on this information strict instructions have been issued to the concerned authorities to compile the report at the earliest.

The police will be strict especially in the case of drunk drivers, non-licensed drivers. The police administration will be strict against those for violating traffic laws.
