Guwahati: Air Show of IAF’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team on Sept 27

Guwahati: The Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will put on a breathtaking display over Guwahati on September 27.

The ceremony will take place at the Lachit Ghat in Guwahati of Assam on September 27 at 10 am.

The Suryakiran aerobatic team is sometimes referred to as the IAF Ambassadors.

The unit is currently stationed at the Tezpur Air Force station. Wing Commander Rupam Bardoloi, a Guwahati native, is also a member of the squadron, which is noteworthy.

The Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran team performs aerobatic displays. The SKAT, a unit of the IAF’s 52nd Squadron, was established in 1996.

Being one of the few nine-aircraft formation aerobatic teams in the world gives the squad a special classification.

Since then, the crew has given additional demonstrations, typically using nine planes. The squadron was headquartered at the Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka and until 2011 consisted of HAL HJT-16 Kiran Mk.2 military trainer aircraft. The team was put on hold in February 2011 and resumed operations in 2017 using Hawk Mk-132 aircraft.

The Hawk Mk132 was created by British Aerospace, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited produces them there.

On September 18, the team performed a breathtaking air show at Blue Flag Beach in the holy city before departing from Puri’s home. Nine aircraft staged the airshow while circling over Puri.

As many as nine pilots entertained the audience for more than 25 minutes with beautiful formations including flying upside down, plunging, and rising.

People flocked to Blue Flag Beach in droves to watch the IAF team’s daring antics. Just 500 feet above the earth, the aerobatic team performed a sequence of loops, barrel rolls, and other breath-taking aerial manoeuvres while streaking across the clear skies with blazing contrails.
