Guwahati: Locals in Basistha area of Guwahati spotted the mortal remains of a person during the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
According to reports, people living in Basistha’s number 5 by-lane spotted a body laying on the side of the road, last night.
The deceased person was identified as Sushanta Majumdar. Locals in the area reported the body to the police after spotting it, and a police squad then arrived at the scene.
The body had visible signs of injuries on his head. According to the police, it appeared to be a homicide at first glance. They noted that the man was believed to be in his fifties.
Officials took the body into custody and initiated an investigation into the incident.
However, the deceased reportedly owned a company in the by-lane.
The incident may have occurred last night when he was closing up shop and going home, police added.
Additionally, the deceased’s family has expressed their outrage, alleging that they believe Majumdar was murdered and that some outlaws dumped his body there. They have requested that the situation be thoroughly investigated.
