Guwahati: Massive flames devoured a car showroom in Basistha area of Guwahati early on Wednesday morning.
The massive fire broke out at an Isuzu and Benelli store on National Highway 37 close to Basistha.
The showrooms reportedly belonged to Prag News owner Sanjive Narain. The fire completely destroyed them.
The reason behind the major fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit, said officials who reached the spot. Moreover, a cylinder inside the building caught fire and exploded, further fanned the flames, added officials.
Meanwhile, at least eight fire fighters were dispatched to the scene of the incident, and after some difficulty extinguishing the flames.
The fire entirely destroyed several cars within the store, inflicting lakhs in losses.
However, thanks to the fire department’s prompt response in putting the fire under control, some vehicles kept in the showroom’s back were spared from the flames.
In addition, no casualties or injuries have been reported from the incident as of yet.
