Guwahati City Plagued by Theft as Driver Flees with Rs. 2 Lakh Cash

Guwahati, 25th July: In an alarming incident amidst the escalating theft cases in Guwahati, a driver absconded with Rs. 2 lakh cash from his employer on Tuesday. The employer, Bolen Barman, had entrusted his driver, Kamal Sen, with the responsibility of accompanying him to the bank to deposit the money. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Sen snatched the cash and fled the scene while they were traveling in an Innova car, according to sources.

Following the incident, Bolen Barman wasted no time in taking action and filed a complaint against his driver at Dispur Police Station, seeking justice and the recovery of the stolen money.

The city’s increasing theft incidents have even impacted top police officials, as demonstrated by the recent robbery faced by DIG (Law and Order) Vivekraj Singh. During his regular morning walk in Ulubari area last Sunday, Singh was targeted by a group of robbers who swiftly stole his cell phone, leaving him taken aback and vulnerable.

The rising prevalence of such thefts in Guwahati has raised concerns among residents and authorities alike. As the city grapples with this crime spree, citizens and law enforcement agencies are on high alert, striving to curb the growing menace and apprehend the culprits responsible for these brazen acts.
