Guwahati Commissioner of Police Urges Responsible Celebration of Diwali and Kali Puja
Guwahati, 9th November: Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah, appeals to the residents of Guwahati, urging them to celebrate Diwali and Kali Puja with joy while adhering to the set guidelines. Addressing a press conference, Barah emphasizes strict actions against those found disobeying the established rules.
Expressing confidence in the enthusiastic celebration by the people of Guwahati, Barah underscores the importance of following the guidelines laid out by the Supreme Court and Kamrup district administration. He provides insights into green crackers, highlighting their approval by the Supreme Court and the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI).
Barah explains that green crackers, devoid of barium nitrate and other harmful elements, can be identified by checking for the CSIP and NEERI logo on the packaging. He urges consumers to verify these markings before purchasing crackers.
Addressing shop owners, Barah stresses the need for obtaining permission from the district DCPs of Guwahati, specifying the three police districts: Dispur East, Dispur Central, and Dispur West. He requests responsible behavior from citizens, restricting the bursting of crackers in silent zones and adhering to the designated time frame from 8 pm to 10 pm for celebrations.
