Guwahati: Cyber Fraudsters Target College Girl Students
Guwahati, 29th September: A disturbing incident has unfolded in Guwahati’s Beltola locality, where girl students of a college have fallen victim to cyber fraudsters.
According to sources, over 60 girls attending Beltola Mahavidyalaya Senior Secondary School have received threats, accompanied by doctored images created by cyber criminals.
Reports indicate that the students have been grappling with this issue since September 23, creating a tense atmosphere on the college campus. The cybercriminals have allegedly blackmailed the girl students, using threats to make their photos go viral.
The students have reported receiving threats from various phone numbers, exacerbating their distress. However, some students have claimed that the college’s principal, Gopesh Deka, failed to provide assurances of their safety and allegedly barred them from the college campus. This prompted the students to turn to the police for assistance.
In their state of helplessness and frustration, the students approached the Basistha Police seeking action against the cybercriminals. Regrettably, they alleged that the police directed them to seek assistance from the crime branch.
This alarming incident highlights the vulnerability of individuals, particularly young students, to cyber threats and harassment. The victims are now pressing for swift and effective measures to bring the cybercriminals to justice and ensure their safety.
