Guwahati: A 23-year-old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Silpukhuri area of Guwahati on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Monjit Deka who is a resident of Housing Colony of the area.
According to reports, the body was found in a pool of blood.
Deka was reportedly returning home after a birthday party last night.
He was drunk with a bottle of liquor in his hand and another tucked around his waist, reports claimed.
Police suspect that he collapsed, causing the bottle tucked around his waist to break and shards of glass to penetrate his abdomen, killing him.
However, when the incident occurred, he was coming home with three of his friends identified as Mridul Das, Jayanta Haloi, and Uday Shankar Dhar.
Meanwhile, Deka’s friend has been detained for questioning by the Chandmari Police.
It may be mentioned that the deceased has been sent to the Chandmari Police Station and further investigation into the matter is underway.
