Guwahati: In a shocking development, Dr. Bikash Roy Das, a medical professional associated with Apollo Hospital in Guwahati, has been apprehended by the Dispur Police. The arrest follows the lodging of a complaint accusing him of sexually harassing a minor girl.
The distressing allegations were brought forth by the minor victim’s mother at the Dispur Police Station. Sources within the police department indicate that the accused doctor allegedly committed the reprehensible act against the teenage daughter of an individual considered to be a close friend.
Law enforcement officials have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under case number 325/25 in response to the complaint. The charges levied against Dr. Das include violations of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 354, pertaining to assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, and 354A, which addresses the offense of sexual harassment. Additionally, Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, concerning sexual assault against a child, has also been invoked in this serious case.
The victim, along with her father, who is reportedly a friend of the accused doctor, has provided a comprehensive statement to the investigating authorities.
The Dispur Police are actively pursuing further inquiries to ascertain the full details of the alleged incident. Dr. Das is currently in police custody and is anticipated to be presented before the appropriate court for subsequent legal actions.
At the time of this report, Apollo Hospital authorities have not released any official statement regarding the arrest of their associated doctor and the grave allegations against him.
