Guwahati: Drug Peddler trying to flee killed in police firing in Amingaon
Guwahati, 3rd December: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a police encounter in Assam’s Kamrup district on Sunday.
The incident took place at Agyathuri in the Amingaon locality of North Guwahati.
According to sources, a swift car with the registration number AS 01-FQ-8535 was carrying a three-member drug trafficking team, drawing the attention of the police.
Upon realizing the situation, the police signaled the team to stop the vehicle.
However, the team disregarded the police signal, and a member from the vehicle opened fire at the police.
In response to the imminent threat, the police had to resort to firing, resulting in the fatality of one trafficker from the gang.
The other two individuals in the vehicle were taken into custody by the police.
Unfortunately, reports indicate that police firing also resulted in injuries to civilians in the locality.
The incident has created tension in the area, prompting concerns over the repercussions of the confrontation.
