Guwahati, 12th December: In a major operation carried out by the city police in the Katabari locality of Guwahati on Thursday, fake gold and counterfeit currency notes were seized.
The search, led by a team comprising the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Garchuk Police, targeted a rented house in Katabari.
Two individuals identified as Safiqul Islam and Sahabuddin were apprehended by the police after uncovering the fake currency racket.
The seized item included four imitation gold bars, two counterfeit gold statues, and a substantial quantity of fake currency notes, sources confirmed.
Reports indicate that the police have initiated an investigation into the entire incident, aiming to uncover the details surrounding this illicit operation.
