Guwahati: A gang of car lifters was arrested by Guwahati Police in Geetanagar area in the city on Sunday.
Based on specific inputs, the Guwahati Police conducted raids in the area and arrested two car lifters.
The duo identified as Debojit Bhattacharya and Deep Roy.
Four more car thieves were detained on the same night after an investigation.
Reports claimed that the gang sold stolen vehicles to the north-eastern states of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and others.
It may be noted that a number of cases had already been filed against them at the police stations in Dispur, Panbazar, and Geetanagar.
A team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) busted a six-person car-lifting gang in April of this year and recovered a stolen Bolero pickup van from their hands.
