Guwahati: Hit-and-Run Accident Claims Biker’s Life in VIP Road
Guwahati, 27th March: A tragic hit-and-run accident on Guwahati’s VIP road on Tuesday night resulted in the untimely death of a biker. The deceased, identified as Jitu Kalita, hailed from Tangla in Assam’s Udalguri district.
According to reports, Kalita was traveling from the Six Mile area when a fast-moving truck collided with him, hurling him several meters away from the collision spot. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot, leaving behind a grieving family and community.
The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving behind a scene of devastation and loss. Local authorities have been alerted, and a search operation is currently underway to apprehend the culprit responsible for this senseless act.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
In a similar incident recently, another innocent life was lost in a hit-and-run accident on the National Highway 37 near Lalunggaon, close to Lokhra. The victim, a woman, was struck by a passing vehicle while crossing the road, resulting in fatal injuries. The heart-wrenching incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
