Guwahati Hotel Sealed After Customer Discovers Dead Lizard in Meal
Guwahati, 28th September: Two days following a disturbing incident, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) took action on Thursday by sealing Maa Kali Hotel in the Paltan Bazar area. This decision comes after a customer discovered a dead lizard in his rice thali at the establishment.
According to sources, GMC authorities, along with Food Safety authorities and police officials, conducted an inspection of the hotel’s premises in Paltan Bazar. The inspection aimed to assess the hotel’s adherence to hygiene standards during food preparation and other aspects.
Upon inspection, it was determined that the hotel had violated hygiene standards, potentially compromising public health.
The incident that led to these actions occurred when a customer from Silchar visited the hotel for dinner and ordered a rice thali with fish curry. While consuming his meal, the customer was shocked to discover a dead lizard among the cooked rice. This discovery prompted a heated altercation between the customer, hotel staff, and the owner. Subsequently, the customer filed a complaint at the Paltan Bazar Police Station.
The sealing of Maa Kali Hotel serves as a stern response to the violation of food safety standards and underscores the importance of maintaining hygiene in food establishments to protect public health.
