Guwahati: An elephant was recovered dead under mysterious circumstances from the outskirts of Guwahati city on Tuesday.
The carcass of the adult female elephant was found near Dipor Bil.
Notably, the three-year-old calf of the deceased jumbo was recovered few days ago from the same location. The elephant had been wandering around the area since then.
Locals accuse the forest authorities of neglect because the elephant had been ill for a while and was deprived of medical attention.
