Guwahati: An individual accused of raping a 13-year-old minor girl in the Birubari area earlier this week was taken into custody by Guwahati City Police on Saturday.
The accused identified as Diganta Das was arrested this morning in Jalukbari. Following the incident, he was on the run.
49-year-old Das is the landlord of the rented house where the victim girl and her family resided.
The minor girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by the suspect earlier this week at their rental home when her parents were not home.
The incident was reported at Nizorapara area in Birubari.
Her family members complained to the police about Das after the incident.
Moreover, it is learned that Das had warned the family of vacating the house after the police complaint was filed.
