Guwahati: London returnee tests COVID positive, sample sent for genome sequencing
Guwahati: The spread of the COVID-19 new variant Omicron is increasing in the country, in the mid of this a returnee from London tested positive for Covid-19 at the Borjhat Airport in Guwahati.
According to reports, the Covid positive woman is currently undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and her samples have been sent to Kolkata for genome sequencing.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) extended the one-month ban on international commercial passenger flights until January 31, 2022, on Thursday. The ban, however, will not apply to all-cargo operations and flights.
Regular international flights were planned to begin on December 15, 2021, but the decision to ban foreign commercial passenger flights was made due to the Omicron form of COVID-19.
