Guwahati: A man has been arrested with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) from Guwahati city of Assam on Tuesday.
The arrestee has been identified as Kinder M Sangma who is a resident of Tura municipality in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
Based on a tip off, the police officials conducted a search operation in the Inter-State Bus Terminal of the city and arrested the person into the connection.
According to reports, he was on his way to Tura from ISBT but before the bus started the journey, the police officials arrested him and seized Rs 7 lakh from his possession.
Reportedly, the man had purchased the FICN from another person in Guwahati.
He had paid Rs 3 lakh to the other person in exchange for the notes, but he had kept the identity of the other person a secret.
It needs to be mentioned that the man is suspected of being involved in an international racket of counterfeit currency traffickers.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated into the matter.
