Guwahati: City police on Friday arrested an individual from the Basistha area for illegally possessing weapons and ammunition.
The police arrested the suspect who has been identified as Bibekanand Taid was picked up by the police at Dehal path in Basistha today morning.
Police found two weapons in his hands during a frisking, one of which was a single-barrel pistol and the other an air pistol with a tip. He was also found to have ammunition by police.
According to reports, the accused used to brandish his gun and make threats to other individuals whenever he got into a fight or a small argument.
The Basistha police arrested Taid and filed a case against him in accordance with the relevant sections.
