Guwahati: Massive Forest Fire Ravages Joyguru Hills in Amingaon, Homes Destroyed

Guwahati: A devastating forest fire erupted in the Joyguru hills of Amingaon, Guwahati, on March 18, engulfing vast stretches of land and reducing two houses to ashes. The flames rapidly spread to the Bathou temple area, also consuming an old plastic dump and intensifying the destruction.

Firefighters and police teams rushed to the scene, battling relentlessly to contain the blaze at the foothills. However, the fire continues to rage uncontrollably in the upper hill regions, posing a severe threat to nearby settlements and the environment. Thick smoke has blanketed the area, causing distress among residents.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been deliberately set in the dry forested region, though officials have yet to confirm the exact cause. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, while residents remain on high alert. An official assessment of the damage is awaited as firefighting efforts continue.
