Guwahati: The prime accused in the gruesome murder Patarkuchi has been arrested by Guwahati Police on Tuesday.
Police officials from Basistha in Guwahati arrested the accused last night from Delhi.
The arrestee has been identified as Raju Das.
It may be noted that on June 19, the body of Pujon Dey, an E-rickshaw driver from Tengakhal near Patarkuchi in Guwahati was recovered in a closed room in a semi-decayed state.
However, suspicions were raised on Das, who used to stay with the victim, but was not seen about three days prior to the recovery of the body.
Police allegedly found evidence of an attack on the body’s decomposing forehead. Further investigation revealed that he had been hit with a rod resulting in death, making it a case of homicide.
The main accused, Das was arrested after being absent from Delhi for a month bringing an end to the case. He is being sent back to Guwahati, where he should reach by today evening, police said.
Locals claimed that they frequently overheard noises of the couple arguing after the Das, alias Hirak, would return home in a drunken state after the incident.
