Guwahati Police Bust Fake Currency and Gold Items Racket in Kahilipara; Two Detained

Guwahati, 8th August: In a significant operation, the Guwahati Police has uncovered a fake currency notes racket, along with counterfeit gold items, from a rented house in the city’s Kahilipara locality. Preliminary reports reveal that the operation led to the discovery of fake currency notes worth Rs 1,03,500. Additionally, fake golden artifacts, a Christ idol, and four ‘Kharus’ (Assamese ornaments) were also seized during the operation.

The operation was executed by officials from Bhagadattapur Police Outpost in Kahilipara. Apart from the counterfeit currency notes and gold items, the police were able to seize three mobile phones and a fake currency printing machine.

During the investigation, it was revealed that two individuals, Rashidul Haque and Farooq Ahmed, both residents of Assam’s Lakhimpur, were involved in circulating the fake currency notes and selling counterfeit gold items to unsuspecting customers. The duo had been operating their illicit business from the rented space for approximately four months.

This operation serves as a reminder of the continuous efforts undertaken by law enforcement to curb counterfeit activities and protect citizens from falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
