Guwahati Police Busts Major Drug Shipment, Seize Codeine Phosphate Syrup
Guwahati, 14th June: In a proactive move against drug trafficking, the West Guwahati Police Department (WGPD), through its Azara Police Station, successfully dismantled a significant supply chain of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
During a targeted operation, law enforcement officials raided a godown located in Hatkhuwapara, resulting in the seizure of 1,956 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup packed in 19 cartons. The consignment, which was destined for distribution in Aizawl, Dimapur, and Agartala, was intercepted before it could reach its final destinations.
Preliminary investigations have traced the origins of the illicit shipment to Delhi, highlighting the extensive network involved in drug trafficking across state borders. The WGPD has intensified its efforts, with ongoing investigations aimed at identifying the masterminds behind this illegal operation and ensuring they face the full force of the law.
The successful operation underscores the commitment of the WGPD to combatting drug trafficking and safeguarding public health and safety in Guwahati and the surrounding regions.
