Guwahati Police Commissioner Emphasizes Road Safety and Launches Investigation into Flyover Accident
Guwahati, 21st October: Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah, announced on October 21 that the police are actively investigating the circumstances that led to a major accident on the Shraddhanjali Flyover in the Zoo Road area.
Commissioner Barah emphasized that the police’s role extends beyond imposing fines and punishments for traffic rule violations. It also includes the responsibility of saving lives. He highlighted the efforts made by the police to raise awareness about road safety and called on everyone to be vigilant and cautious.
The incident in question involved young women sitting on the roof of a moving car and caused significant damage to the boundary railings of the Assam map structure on the flyover. The police commissioner expressed the need to investigate how this accident occurred and added that the police had seen the video footage of the incident.
Furthermore, Commissioner Barah issued a warning to follow all rules and regulations, especially during the Durga Puja festivities.
Earlier on the same day, the police arrested the drunk driver responsible for the accident. The driver, identified as Kuldeep Parasar, had crashed into the railings of the Assam map structure in an inebriated state, causing injuries to two home guards. The incident occurred in the early hours of the day.
The police are taking the incident seriously and conducting a thorough investigation.
