Guwahati: The Guwahati Officers arrested a fraudster on Saturday for stealing money in Fancy Bazar while pretending to be a police officer.
The fraudster has been identified as Tarun Dutta, a resident of Kamakhya Gate.
According to reports, Tarun is the fraudster who pretended to be a police officer and a Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) official in order to steal money from small business owners in the city’s shopping hub.
It is established that several cases were registered against Tarun for looting money from many people.
He used to steal money from small company owners by claiming that they had reopened the stores that the local police had shut down.
Allegations were made against him for collecting tax from events jointly organised by news agencies and social organizations.
