Guwahati Police Lauded for Heroic Efforts Amid Severe Flooding

Guwahati, 6th August: In the wake of severe flooding that struck Assam’s capital on August 5, Guwahati police have been recognized for their remarkable dedication and resilience. A tweet from the Guwahati Police Department commended the “unflinching commitment” of officers who tirelessly assisted residents during the unprecedented weather conditions.

The heavy rainfall resulted in extensive waterlogging throughout the city, disrupting daily life significantly. Major roads and peripheral areas, including Zoo Road, GS Road, Nabin Nagar, Ganeshguri, and Dispur, were heavily affected, leaving commuters, schoolchildren, and even emergency services stranded for hours. Residents also faced power outages in several neighborhoods, further complicating the situation.

In response to the severe weather and its impact, the Kamrup Metropolitan administration has mandated the closure of all educational institutions on Tuesday. This precautionary measure aims to safeguard students and staff as Guwahati continues to manage the challenges posed by the recent flooding.
