Guwahati, 27th November: The Guwahati police have initiated investigations into the reported physical attack on a woman by students from Cotton University. The victim, along with her husband, filed a complaint at the Panbazar Police Station, leading to the registration of a case (No. 3012/23) under sections 341, 323, 325, and 354.
The incident unfolded earlier at one of the MNDP boy’s hostels in Cotton University, where students allegedly under the influence of alcohol first attacked a man on the road. When the woman intervened to stop the brawl, she too became a target of the assault.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Panbazar police reached the scene and the woman was taken to the police station for a medical examination.
Hostel authorities denied the allegations, claiming that the involved boys did not belong to Cotton University and emphasized that hostel students adhere to established rules.
The ongoing investigation will shed light on the circumstances surrounding the reported assault, and further developments will be awaited.
