Guwahati Police Seizes Ganja Worth Crores at Jorabat, 2 Held
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Guwahati Police seized ganja worth Rs 1 crore and arrested two persons in connection to this in Jorabat on Saturday.
The police claim that a vehicle with 101 kg of marijuana was seized in Jorabat area on the outskirts of Guwahati.
Based on a tip, a special team of Guwahati Police officers under the command of Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta in Jorabat stopped a truck with the registration number HP 62 B 5088 from Himachal Pradesh.
The truck was headed towards Bihar and was leaving Tripura.
The truck’s roof contained the marijuana. The police had to break open the truck’s roof to seize the drugs.
“During thorough checking, we have recovered and seized 101 kg of marijuana from the truck which was coming from Tripura and going to North India,” Partha Sarathi Mahanta said.
The driver and conductor, Pranab Kumar Jamatia and Bodh Sadhan Jamatia have been identified as the arrested individuals.
