Guwahati: A man was found dead in the Paltan Bazar railway colony area of Guwahati on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Narayan Chakraborty and the body was recovered around 4pm from a railway quarter Kalibari.
According to reports, Chakraborty was a housekeeper at the government quarter and also the priest of Kalibari Kali Temple.
The quarter was allocated to Sanjib Choudhary who was out of the town due to Chhath Puja. Chakrabarty was asked to look after the house in Sanjib’s absence.
Police officials suspected that the victim was hit by a blunt object on his head resulting his death.
Meanwhile, the police have detained at least four persons including Chakraborty’ wife and also his neighbour for questioning.
However, the reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained and further investigation into the matter is underway.
