Guwahati Railway Station Bolsters Security with New Escort Hall and Upgraded Surveillance
Guwahati: Guwahati Railway Station has significantly enhanced its security infrastructure with the inauguration of a new Escort Mobilisation Hall and a comprehensively upgraded CCTV Surveillance Room. This development is geared towards fortifying railway security measures and improving overall operational efficiency at one of the Northeast Frontier Railway’s busiest hubs.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday, was spearheaded by Manoj Yadava, the Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). His presence underscored the importance of this initiative in the broader context of railway safety across the nation.
Also in attendance was Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), alongside a number of senior railway officials and RPF personnel. Their collective presence highlighted the collaborative effort driving these security enhancements.
Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway, articulated the significance of these upgrades. He stated that the initiative signifies a “transformative step” in bolstering the safety framework of Guwahati station. The newly operational Escort Mobilisation Hall is envisioned as a central coordination point, designed to substantially improve the deployment and mobilisation of RPF escort personnel.
Sharma further elaborated that this dedicated facility will empower the RPF to manage escort duties with greater efficiency, precision, and speed, particularly in emergency situations. This centralised approach is expected to streamline security responses and enhance the overall safety of train operations.
Complementing the new hall is the significantly enhanced CCTV Surveillance Room, now equipped with cutting-edge surveillance technology. This upgraded system provides extensive monitoring coverage throughout the entire station premises. The enhanced surveillance capabilities aim to improve the detection and deterrence of criminal activities, ensure real-time awareness of the situation on the ground, and ultimately enhance the safety and security of the thousands of passengers who use Guwahati station daily.
During the inauguration event, Director General Yadava emphasized the RPF’s unwavering commitment to adopting contemporary security practices and infrastructure that are in line with the evolving needs of the Indian Railways and its passengers. General Manager Shrivastava echoed this sentiment, stressing the vital role of technology and coordinated security efforts in raising the standards of safety in railway travel.
