Guwahati: TET qualified candidates stage protest Khanapara, 110 detained
Guwahati: Hundreds of Special TET qualified candidates gathered to the streets to protest the government’s lack of recruitment on December 7.
The Guwahati police detained up to 110 protestors as they obstructed highways and inconvenienced commuters.
Speaking on the protest, state education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, “The exam was performed based on a particular process. The applicants must abide by the laws and guidelines. A total of 15,000 people failed the exam, while 600 did. A select handful of those who passed were even hired. They demanded that we administer one special TET exam, so we did. We shall reconsider whether to hold the exam once more. When it comes to the hiring procedure, it will be controlled and ethical. Candidates with the minimal qualifications required for the position or those with the necessary prerequisite qualifications may apply for the position. The chief minister even indicated that our education department will soon be publishing advertisements to fill the open positions.”
The protesters demanded immediate recruitment as hundreds of candidates passed the special TET exam held in 2022.
