Guwahati Traffic Police issues guidelines for vehicular movement during Durga Puja

Guwahati, 20th October: In preparation for Durga Puja, traffic restrictions are set to be implemented in parts of Guwahati. The restrictions will be in effect from October 21 to October 24.

Goods carrying vehicles will be permitted to enter the city from 4 am to 10 am during this period. However, the plying of commercial vehicles carrying goods with six wheels or more will face restrictions on National Highway No 27 and National Highway No 17 from 11 am to 12 midnight.

Additional restrictions on vehicle movement will be applied to various areas, including Dispur, Basistha, Bharalumukh, Jalukbari, Panbazar, Chandmari, and Noonmati during this time.

Specific roads will be off-limits for vehicle traffic to manage the expected large crowds during the Durga Puja festivities.

Furthermore, commercial vehicles, particularly those with All Assam Tourist Permits, coming from Lower Assam, will be terminated at the Adabari bus terminus. Vehicles from the Upper Assam side will be allowed to travel up to ISBT Betkuchi. ASTC undertaking buses from Lower Assam will be diverted to ISBT and not allowed to enter Paltanbazar from Jalukbari.
