Guwahati, 2nd September: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has informed residents that water supply will remain suspended until September 4 due to technical challenges. In a press release, the GMC stated that the water supply disruption that began on September 1, 2023, has been extended due to difficulties in modifying and relocating the existing 450 mm diameter water pumping main from the Panbazar Water Treatment Plant to the Sarania reservoir.
The work commenced on September 1, 2023, at night and is expected to be completed by September 4, 2023, also at night. As a result, several areas in Guwahati will be affected by this water supply disruption. These areas include Chatribari, Paltan Bazar, Rehabari, Kacharibasti, B. Barua Road, Ulubari, Gandhibasti, South-Sarania, Lachit Nagar, Bhangagarh, Rajgarh, and Pub-Sarania.
