Guwahati: A woman was found with burnt injuries at her residence in Christian Basti area of Guwahati on Friday.
The injured woman has been identified as Nikita Agarwala Khemka.
According to reports, the woman was tortured for a long time by her husband and his family, allegedly for dowry.
She was discovered in a critical state with burn injuries and was immediately rushed to Nemcare hospital, reports claimed.
However, the 31-year-old victim was 75 percent injured.
It may be noted the victim’s husband identified as Kaushik Khemkak, has been detained by the police and an FIR has been lodged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It may be mentioned that the couple had been married since 2018.
