Guwahati Woman Nabbed with Heroin; Further Investigation Uncovers Packaging Operation

Guwahati: Basistha Police achieved a significant victory in their fight against narcotics trafficking today, apprehending a 32-year-old woman in the Sawkuchi area of Guwahati on suspicion of drug peddling.

The arrested individual has been identified as Sajida Begum, a resident of Algapur in the Hailakandi district. Police sources confirmed that Begum was caught with a substantial amount of suspected heroin during a targeted raid conducted earlier today.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 278.38 grams of suspected heroin, meticulously concealed within four soap cases and an additional thirteen plastic packets. Alongside the drugs, law enforcement officials also confiscated ₹1,49,500 in cash and a mobile phone, both believed to be instrumental in Begum’s alleged drug-related activities.

In a follow-up investigation prompted by the initial arrest, police extended their search to a rented premises located in Datalpara, Natun Basti, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Fatashil Ambari Police Station. This further search yielded a considerable amount of materials used for packaging illicit substances, including 1,800 empty vials and 100 empty soap boxes, suggesting a wider drug distribution network.
